A while back
we got a brief teaser, but now Warner Brother finally gave us a trailer for the
much-anticipated Man Of Steel. Whilst the teaser was more just… well a tease,
the trailer gives us a good look on how the film is going to play out, but
still managing to stay cryptic.
I am pretty
pleased with the trailer, it seems to stay pretty true to what the teaser
promised, which I loved. Characters and emotions have never been Snyder´s
strongest side, but it looks like he really nailed it here. It does kind of
remind me of Batman Begins, which is
good, I just hope it still feels like it is standing on its own legs rather
then being “Nolan´s Dark Knight Trilogy: The Superman Edition”, but Nolan has
said they are not trying to just do for Superman, what they did for Batman, so
shouldn’t be a problem.
I have to
say I am kind of getting a vibe of both Terrance Malick and J.J. Abrams from
this trailer. Abrams because of the famous lens flare, which is, used
worryingly a lot here, and Malick… I don’t know just in the visual style,
camera work and tone.
The only
thing that worries me in the film is that the few glimpses we get of action
scenes, do have kind of a overly CGI look from what I can tell, which I am not
a huge fan of, but that is Snyder´s style so it is to be expected and I think
he can make it work. That being said I pray that he has cut down in his use of
slow motion, it really damaged Watchmen.
We know Snyder can do magic in visuals, but he really needs to show that he is
a storyteller here.
Man Of
Steel comes out on June 21st 2013.
