Pacific Rim Trailer

So… another trailers… for a Sci-Fi… damn there is a lot of exciting Sci-fi movies comming out in 2013. When I in my last post mentioned which Sci-fi movies I was the most excited for, I totally forgot about Pacific Rim. So the trailer just popped up today and it is pretty exciting. That being said I don’t know how excited for it I would be if it wasn’t for the fact that Guillermo Del Toro directs it. Now Guillermo Del Toro made Pan´s Labyrinth which I think is absolutely brilliant as well as co-writing the new Hobbit films (which he was originally set to direct).

What scares me is the fact that this is a film that could easily feel like the horrendous Transformers Trilogy, however with Hellboy Del Toro took a concept that on paper sounded cheesy and stupid and turned it into a great action movie. That being said, he didn’t write this, it was written by Travis Beacham and what has he written you ask? Well… Clash Of The Titans… yeah there is good reason to be worried here, though I still have faith in Del Toro.

There is no denying the film looks visually amazing (then again the budget is at about 200 million dollars), but from the first trailer the story seems quite weak and I really hope there is more to the story then what is shown here. I will say though that, the speech Idris Elba is giving, gave me some serious shivers.

By the way interesting to have GLaDOS from the Portal games in here… not that her character is actually in here, but the AI voice is done by the same actor who did GLaDOS, and sounds like it is supposed to sound like her. Interesting choice by Del Toro.
